Cobourg man charged after credit card reported stolen

The complainant was alerted of several fraudulent transactions after losing their wallet, containing a credit and debit card, police added.

Police identified the suspect after identifying five stores in Cobourg where the purchases were made.

On Saturday, Feb. 17, the suspect, a 43-year-old Cobourg man, was located and arrested after a short foot chase. Police said officers found a knife in the man's possession.

The accused has been charged with possession of a credit card, resist peace officer, weapons possession for dangerous purpose, five counts of use of a credit card, five counts of use of credit card data, five counts of fraud under $5,000 and five counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
